Plagued by “operational issues”, the Seadrill jack-up rig West Larissa will limp to a Singapore yard for leg repairs expected to take four months, it was understood Thursday.
The rig’s legs were damaged during a “punch-through” while positioning for the start to operations near a wellhead in Indonesia.
Insurance will cover lost revenues, the rig owner explained, but explained that the rig had not functioned perfectly since early May, impacting performance-based earnings.
In Tunisia, the jack-up West Titania is scheduled to commence operations in mid July following yard-stays and relocation from Nigeria. The unit has been idle since January this year.
