Keppel FELS Ltd. shipyard has won a second contract for a PetroVietnam Drilling Investment Corp. jack-up rig, a $191-million project to be named PV Drilling II.
The work comes after Keppel delivered a first rig two months ahead of schedule and dispelled warnings Asian yards could fall behind in the order queue. The K FELS B type rig will be delivered at the height of newbuil deliveries, toward the end of 2009.
PetroVietnam said the rig, slightly taller than PV Drilling I, was to be used in Vietnamese waters in depths up to 375 feet. Wells of 30,000 feet are the outer limit.
