Saipem to hone Sonatrech's $950M Hassi Messaoud

Italy-based Saipem and Lead Contracting have been awarded a $950 million Sonatrech onshore contract in Algeria to engineer, procure for and construct a crude oil treatment and stabilisation plant at Hassi Messaoud, 800 kilometres southeast of Algier.

The plant of three trains — each able to process 100,000 barrels of oil — will also include a maintenance unit, “four stocking units of 50,000 cubic meters each and a 45km pipeline to move oil, water and gas. Work should last 37 months.

Saipem will earn $700 million for enhancing the Hassi Messaoud field’s crude quality, safety and production.
