Oilexco on road to development at Huntington

Calgary-based North Sea developer Oilexco has tested the Huntington light-oil discovery and attained flows of 5,577 barrels per day of oil and 3.4 million standard cubic feet per day of gas, or more than thought.

Oilexco’s 40-percent owned prospect was drilled through well 22/14b-5 to a total depth of 13,325 feet. Paleocene sand at 8,960 feet was drill-stem tested. No water flowed through the 72/64 choke, and wells stream was “severely restricted by the test equipment” chosen.

An appraisal well later in 2007 is expected to confirm a larger structure for which development solutions are already being contemplated.

Partners at Huntington are Altinex Oil with 20 percent, E.ON Ruhrgas with 25 percent and Carrizo Oil and Gas with 15 percent.
