Danish oil company DONG and partners announced on Thursday the finding of more tightly packed oil and gas at the Ninni East field than was reckoned to be in place.
The finding of oil with the Ninni 5 well and the recent Rau find in license 4/95 bode well for longer life at the Siri field and platform. The block 5605/10-8 appraisal abuts the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
The Noble George Sauvageau jack-up rig drilled in 56 metres of water and reached “Danian-age” chalk at 1,793 metres total depth. Oil in unspecified volumes was found in Palaeocene sands.
The Noble rig is now at the Nini wellhead platform to drill a production well.
Norway-based Altinex and Germany’s RWE Dea each wield 30-percent stakes in the license.
