DONG opting for Oselvar drilling off Norway Jun 1, 2007
Danish oil company Dong has asked Norwegian authorities for permission to drill a new well in the North Sea prospect Oselvar, 25 kilometres from the nearest production infrastructure. 
Statoil has permission from regulators to drill the Midnatt Sol prospect about midway between the Ormen Lange field and the Ellida oil discovery, it was learned Friday. 
The Norwegian Oil and Energy Ministry on Thursday sent letters to 22 oil companies and offered 10 production licenses, as a second look was taken at companies turned away in the January 2007 installment of 2006’s Awards in Predefined Areas.
