Det Norske Oljeselskap has spudded a wildcat on the Norwegian continental shelf aimed west of the Grane field to depths of 2,200 metres. Well 24/9-8 targets the Lie prospect, of which operator DNO holds a 30-percent interest.

Norwegian regulators had earlier this week given the nod for the well, which goes down from atop 123 metres of water.

It’s the first well to be drilled by the Bredford Dolphin rig in a three-year drilling contract DNO and a consortium of six other operators have penned with Dolphin Drilling.

Revus (30 percent) joins Talisman Energy (30 percent) and PA Resources (10 percent) at the Lie lead.
