Revus Energy has agreed to buy from Statoil a stake in the Murchison field and the Delta discovery via new stakeholdings, it was understood Monday.
The price paid was said to reflect both expected revenues at Murchison and the offputting cost of decommissioning.
A market favourite, the Stavanger-based indy will be 100 percent owner in PL 037C and D, including the 22.2 per cent Murchison field bit. The company holds the adjacent exploration license PL 344.
“We have identified several exploration prospects on the Norwegian side of the border that would be natural tie-backs to The Murchison platform,” a statement said.
Revus said control of the Norwegian side of the UK-Norway, merdidian-line field makes for unobstructed planning. The oil company said a partner with “technical competance” is sought on the new acreage.
Revus adds 2.2 million barrels of oil equivalent in reserves and 3,000 boepd.
Canadian Natural Resources is operator at Murchison.
