WinGas secures $4B German landfall for Shtokman flows

Wintershall and Gazprom subsidiary WINGAS will build a $4 billion pipeline by 2015 to link up to Nord Stream, the pipeline being built under the Baltic Sea to help the Russian gas giant meet German demand.

“Wingas will take care of the further transportation of gas reaching Germany's coast and will build two big overland pipelines for that purpose,” Wingas Chairman Rainer Seele was quoted by The Moscow Times as saying.

The German pipeline links Opal will be in place by 2010 and Nel by 2012, in time for more Russian volume.

The report suggested Nord Stream will carry gas from the giant Shtokman gas field in the Barents Sea in 2013, a purported start date for Shtokman.

Some 71 billion cubic metres per year would represent firs year’s production, Gazprom deputy chief exec, Alexander Ananenkov, reportedly said. At Yamal, meanwhile, first production is planned for 2011.
