Stavanger-based SeaMetric has a deal with Chinese yard interests to build its unique “catamaran” heavy lift system capable of lifting 20,000-tonne topsides in one pass, OilGas24.com was informed Tuesday.
ESSCA of Hong Kong, China National Petroeleum Corp. and China Petroleum First Construction, or CPFCC, would build the heavy lift solution. The JingJiang Nanyang shipyard will build the two, inegral DP heavy-lift transport vessels.
SeaMetric retains options for another heavy-lift system and two submersible heavy transport vessels.
BP, Shell and Total have backed the project hoping to solve their decommissioning worries. The twin-hulled marine heavy lifter will help remove topsides for transport and disposal ashore.
