Samsung scoops $350M Skarv topsides

Published Jul 12, 2007

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries has won a $350 million order from BP in Norway to build and install the deckside process equipment for the floating production storage and offloading vessel FPSO Skarv.

Six topside modules weighing some 16,000 tonnes (2,500 t each) must be installed. When done, a flaretower will be mounted at another yard.

The construction of the topsides modules start with the cutting of first steel in December 2008, and the complete FPSO will leave South Korea by year-end 2010.
