TGS-NOPEC starts on Greenland "atlas"

Greenland

Anglo-Norwegian survey outfit, TGS-NOPEC, has heeded industry calls and taken pre-payment for a campaign of exploratory surveys off arctic Greenland, a burgeoning oil province set to benefit its Danish administrators.

Planes and ships shooting 2D seismic will size up Baffin Bay and the offshore northeast of Greenland in the first of three planned programmes. The shoots will add 164,000 kilometers of “aeromagnetic” data and 8,800 km of 2D seismic data to the PGSs stores.

Data from the 62,000 km Baffin Bay shoot will be processes outside of Oslo for delivery late in 2007.

The Baffin Bay 2D seismic program will overlap the survey by air with a 60-kilometre-square grid. The 8,800 k m shoot will make inroads into the Canadian side of the Bay, for which data will be processed in Bedford and available early in 2008.
