Offshore services outfit Acergy has ordered a $180 million diving support vessel from Havila Shipping, as the London-based supplier looks to win pipeline tie-in, welding and inspection work in Canada and Europe.

A 250-tonne crane and spac for 120 people are among the features of this high-spec, 120-by-23-metre ship. Other highlites include high speeds, an hardened ice hull and a 24-man, twin-bell saturation diving system certified for Norway.

Acergy will operate the vessel but own it 50-50 with Havila when it's Christened in 2010.
