U.K.-based oilfield engineering outfit Wood Group announced Tuesday the winning of a three-year contract with “a major oil and gas company” in the Middle East, just as the company announced a new Qatar service facility was open for business.
The 600-square-metre site will service pump, compressor and valve equipment and is the latest in $55-million spent in the Middle East. Wood Group Engineering Services Qatar’s new contract involves machine shop support services for onshore refining and production facilities.
A number of recently merged suppliers of cut steel, control systems and oilfield services, including Halliburton, have recently set up major manufacturing and sales sites in the Middle East.
The Wood Group move is managed by its gar turbine services business.
