Salamander to “share wealth” with PetroVietnam

SOCO International provides Vietnam drilling update

U.K. independent Salamander Energy has signed a production-sharing agreement with PetroVietnam ahead of exploration in the Cuu Long River, it was understood Monday.

Cuu Long River seismic will be shot over Block 1 in 2007, with drilling in 2008, a statement said.

It’s the company’s first interest in the Southeast Asian country and it holds 100 percent of Block 1, which includes acreage onshore, offshore, shoreline and river delta in the south of the country.

PetroVietnam explored the area in the 70s with three shallow onshore wells.
