Norwegian interests have agreed to form supply ship company Aker DOF Supply on the heals of another joint venture, Aker Oilfield Services, to be owned 50-50 this time by Aker Capital and DOF.
A press release Monday said six anchor-handling supply ships would be built at an Aker-owned yard in Vietnam to spearhead the new company. A new Aker DOF will seek to raise some $10 million in shares.
DOF already owns some 50 ships and “new-builds”, while Aker Yards has built a great number of offshore vessels.
The Asian rig market is the ultimate destination for the new vessels.
Aker Oilfield Services pooled the resources of DOF and Aker when it was formed earlier this year.
