Noble Drilling Services Inc. has hired out a high-spec semisubersible drill rig, the Noble Bingo 9000 Rig 4, to Marathon Oil on terms yet to be worked out, it was understood Wednesday.

A letter of intent between the two suggests “the (baredeck) hull” will become a two-year hire with Marathon during which Noble stands to earn up to $377 million. The rig will be completed as a Noble Danny Adkins with space to sleep for 200.

The deepwater Bingo will be renamed the Noble Jim Day after an industry pioneer. It’ll be delivered from Jurong Shipyard by year-end 2009.
