Petrobras and field partner Norse Energy declared Friday a stepping up of operations at the offshore Manati field, where one well, No. 3, has come onstream, it was announced Friday.

A second well, MNT-4, tested at 1 million cubic metres a day on a 60/64-inch choke, good enough to “set the Christmas Tree” in preparation for a tie-in opeation to field instrastructure.

A fifth well is being completed for production testing using a “gravel pack”, just as two rigs are freed up to drill two wells elswhere.

The new wells coincide with more pipeline capacity to Brazilian markets, just as average Manati production reaches 1.9 MM m3/d. For Norway-based Norse Energy, Manati represents up to 19 MM barrels of equivalent.
